*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*
Hello! I’m super excited to be sharing a new-to-me brand (and a new brand in general!) – Under A Hula Moon! Under A Hula Moon will be making their polish debut at the Polish & Dreams expo, and I have quite a few of their gorgeous polishes to share with you today!
Four of these polishes are show exclusives, and the remaining ones are part of collections that will eventually release on the Under A Hula Moon site. A huge congrats to the team for their polish debut!
Let’s get into it!
Polish & Dreams Exclusives
All Shook Up
All Shook Up is described as a coral pink jelly filled with color shifting flakes.
All Shook Up had a thicker formula because it was so jam-packed with flakes. It did apply easily and layered well.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, on its own on the index and middle fingers and over a peachy nail line blurring base coat on the ring and pinky fingers.
Can’t Help Falling In Love
Can’t Help Falling In Love is described as a blue base filled with blue, lime green and aqua color shifting flakies.
Can’t Help Falling In Love also had a thicker formula from its high density of flakes. It too applied easily and layers well.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.
Lady Luck
Lady Luck is described as a strong green to gold multichrome that was created to symbolize the color of money and gold.
Lady Luck had a really creamy and opaque formula – practically a one coater. It did dry with a lot of visible brush strokes, though.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
From Another Planet, Maybe the 13th One?
From Another Planet, Maybe the 13th One? is described as a spectraflair packed holo created with the color of weed. It is inspired by a trip to a popular Las Vegas dispensary.
From Another Planet, Maybe the 13th One? had a smooth and even formula that was self-leveling.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.
The Ninth Island Collection
These polishes will likely return to the Under A Hula Moon site at a later date! The Ninth Island Collection is inspired by Bruno Mars, who was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and also spends a lot of time in Vegas.
That’s What I Like
That’s What I Like is a multichrome beauty with many vibrant shifts that are reminiscent of Oahu living.
That’s What I Like had a smooth and slick formula. This was probably my favorite of the multichromes that I swatched!
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Uptown Funk
Uptown Funk is described as a multichrome full of dark purple to blue shifts that bring to mind so many of the walks on the beach of Waikiki at night.
Uptown Funk had a smooth and slightly jelly-like formula.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Island Style
Island Style is described as a multichrome that shifts through many colors that are reminiscent of a Hawaiian sunset at the beach.
Island Style had a smooth and jelly-like formula. For this polish, all of the brush strokes disappear as the polish dries.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Treasure
Treasure is described as a slightly pinkish red holo laden with spectraflair.
Treasure had a jelly-like holo formula that leaned on the slightly lighter side. It applied smoothly and was self-leveling.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Grenade
Grenade is described as a dark bronze or copper holo laden with spectraflair.
Grenade had a smooth and self-leveling formula. Across the board, all of the holos from Under A Hula Moon had a stellar formula.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Talking To The Moon
Talking To The Moon is described as a grape purple holo laden with spectraflair.
Talking To The Moon had a smooth, more jelly-like formula. All of the holos shown in this post were very rainbow-y and holographic in sunlight.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Rock Candy Collection
I have two of the many polishes available for the Rock Candy collection! These polishes are both gorgeous shimmers, and my personal favorite from the the whole set of polishes here was Grape Rock Candy.
I believe these polishes will also be available on the Under A Hula Moon site at some point.
Grape Rock Candy
I unfortunately don’t have an official description for this polish, but I would describe it as a light mauve base with shimmer that shifts from pink to gold to green.
Grape Rock Candy had a smooth, even, and self-leveling formula. The brush strokes for this polish disappear as it dries.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, on its own on the index and middle fingers and over a white blurring base coat on the ring and pinky fingers. Personally, I don’t think you need a blurring base coat for this polish.
Green Apple Rock Candy
I also don’t have an official description for this polish, but I would describe Green Apple Rock Candy as a neon green base with green shimmer.
Green Apple Rock Candy had a smooth and even formula. It had a slightly thicker shimmer formula but still applied very easily.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, on its own on the index and middle fingers and over a white blurring base coat on the ring and pinky fingers. I don’t think a blurring base coat is necessary for this one either.
So many pretties in so many finishes and colors! Congrats again to Under A Hula Moon on their polish debut.
Let me know which ones you’ll be picking up, and thanks for reading!
XOXO,
Lauren
