Bees Knees Lacquer: The Witcher Collection

*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free, with additional compensation, in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*

Hello! In this post I’ll be sharing polishes that will be available during Bees Knees Lacquer’s January release! This month, Bees Knees Lacquer will be releasing their new Witcher Collection, as well as two Facebook group customs, Witcher mysteries, a new monthly monster mystery, new scents, and of course, respawns. Preorder will begin on the Bees Knees Lacquer site at 7pm ET on January 28 and close on January 31 at 11:59pm ET.

The Witcher collection will be up for preorder (even the UP polish) and there will be a full collection option. The two group customs will be available through a secret link, which you can get by joining the respective Facebook groups. I’ll have the groups linked under the description of each polish. The group customs, unlike the Witcher collection, will be available from January 15 to January 31.

I think that’s it for the details, so let’s get into it!

The Witcher Collection

Short story time: I had been meaning to watch the Witcher for quite some time, especially since so many in the indie polish world seem to love the show. I decided that getting this collection in PR was a sign from the universe to start watching it, so I started watching season 1 while swatching this collection. And omg, I fell in love with the show and binged it so fast, I finished watching both seasons in less than a week. I’m pretty much obsessed now, and I think all of the polishes here match their inspos so well. Fingers crossed that BKL comes out with a second Witcher-inspired collection based on season 2!

Now, for the good stuff!

Kikimora

Kikimora is described as a deep olive with green to blue sibling UP.

Kikimora had a smooth and even formula, but it was still a bit sheer at three coats. In order to achieve full opacity, you’ll have to pair this one with a blurring base coat.

Shown is four coats plus glossy top coat.

Kikimora will be available for $16.

Toss a Coin to Your Witcher

Toss a Coin to Your Witcher is described as a black polish with gold to green to blue shimmer.

Toss a Coin to Your Witcher was quite opaque form the beginning. The polish was slightly uneven on the first coat, but the second made it more even. There’s a teal shift to this polish that I wasn’t able to capture.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Toss a Coin to Your Witcher will be available for $13.50.

It Is What I’m Owed

It Is What I’m Owed is described as a light turquoise full of icy silver to blue shimmer.

It Is What I’m Owed had a smooth formula, with less visible brush strokes when dry. The final finish has a slightly metallic feel to it.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

It Is What I’m Owed will be available for $13.

The Lion Cub of Cintra

The Lion Cub of Cintra is described as an aqua to cobalt shimmer polish with deep blue light reflective glitter.

The Lion Cub of Cintra could double as a topper if you go a bit light. It is dense with glitters and has a smooth formula, and its opacity was not bad in two coats. The polish applies like a microglitter, but I didn’t need a glitter grabbing top coat – one thick coat of top coat was fine.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, first in normal studio lighting and then with flash.

The Lion Cub of Cintra will be available for $13.

The Law of Surprise

The Law of Surprise is described as a rich cobalt with aqua to blue shimmer.

The Law of Surprise had a smooth and even formula. I recommend going for medium coats, and the polish is more cerulean-y vibrant than in photos.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

The Law of Surprise will be available for $13.

She Is Your Destiny

She Is Your Destiny is described as a blue to black to purple multichrome.

She Is Your Destiny had a jelly-like, very glowy, and smooth formula. The formula had a water-like formula – not in a way that makes it runny (because it wasn’t runny), but in a way that makes it feel like it’s gliding on. Two coats was pretty good for opacity, but I still had some shadow of nail line and patches so I went for three coats, which also deepened the color. The polish dries glossy and has more subtle shifts since its tones are similar.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.

She Is Your Destiny will be available for $13.50.

Pure Chaos

Pure Chaos is described as a deep violet with glowy pink iridescent flakes. Because of the violet base, this shade may stain so it is recommended to pair it with a good base coat.

Pure Chaos had a very opaque jelly base, and its flakes were medium/light in density. I recommend going for medium/thick coats, and while its opacity was fine in two coats I went for three to get more flake buildup.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, and then with matte top coat.

Pure Chaos will be available for $12.50.

F*ck

F*ck is described as a black to red multichrome full of light reflective glitter. It is inspired by Geralt’s signature phrase.

F*ck had an even and jelly-like formula. Two coats was fine for opacity, but I thought three gave a lot more depth. The polish dries very flat and gritty but like The Lion Cub of Cintra, one thick coat of top coat was enough to smooth it over.

F*ck was a no-brainer top pick from this collection. The polish is absolutely stunning, and so incredibly unique. I know we’re only barely into 2022, but I already know this polish will make my top 10 polishes of 2022. I seriously recommend this one – I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying a backup during the preorder window.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, first in normal studio lighting and then with flash.

F*ck will be available for $13.

Precious Pearls, Metals, and Magnetics Custom: Opposites Attract

Opposites Attract is described as a magnetic holo with gold reflective glitter. We recommend using a glossy topcoat for maximum sparkle.

Opposites Attract had a smooth and even formula that magnetizes well. Although it’s not pictured, I thought the polish was quite pretty without magnetizing too. It dries flat with a slightly gritty texture due to the reflective glitters.

Shown is two coats plus a thick coat of glossy top coat, first with normal studio lighting and then with flash.

Opposites Attract will be available for $13.50. You can join the Precious Pearls, Metals, and Magnetics group here.

Shades of Cyan Group Custom: Slay It!

Slay It! is described as a darker cyan linear holo with a scattering of red to green iridescent flakes.

Slay It! was a one coater that was super opaque and smooth. I did two coats to thicken the look in my swatch photos, and I’d say the flakes in the polish blend in a bit with the linear holo base.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Slay It! will be available for $13.50. You can join the Shades of Cyan group here.

Let me know if you’ll be picking any of these stunning shades up! I know I’ll be getting my backup of F*ck😉 Thanks for reading.

XOXO,

Lauren
