Hello hello! Today I’m excited to be sharing a new collection from Dreamland Lacquer – their first new collection in over a year! The new Falloween 2021/In the Shadows Part 2 collection is a six piece collection inspired by What We Do in the Shadows, and releases September 10 at 2pm CDT for a 72 hour preorder window on the Dreamland Lacquer site. The projected turn-around-time is 2 weeks, and polishes will later become available after the preorder window.
Polishes in the collection will be $10 each or $55 for the set during the preorder, and then retail will be $11 each. The full set will also ship for free during the preorder.
I think that’s it for the details! Let’s get into the goodies.
Mickey Guillermo
Mickey Guillermo is described as a burnt orange linear holo.
Mickey Guillermo had a smooth and light formula, but didn’t run or pool. The linear holo-ness is quite strong.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
A Big Bloody Stupid CURSE
A Big Bloody Stupid CURSE is described as a burgundy jelly with red to gold shifty shimmer.
A Big Bloody Stupid CURSE had a super smooth formula. Any brush strokes from the polish dry out, and I recommend going for medium/thinner coats. The formula itself is medium in thickness, and it dries decently glossy. In terms of color, the polish is a bit more magenta leaning than in my photos.
Shown is two coats on my index and middle, and three coats on my ring and pinky with glossy top coat.
Witch Hat? This Hat??
Witch Hat? This Hat?? is described as having coppery-orangey-goldy shifty shimmer with holographic flakes in a beigey base.
Witch Hat? This Hat?? had a smooth and not too thick or thin formula.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
The Art of Bush Manipulation
The Art of Bush Manipulation is described as a blackened green jelly with silver and green holo microglitters.
This polish definitely has a glitter jelly formula, and I recommend going lighter and thinner to build your layers. Going too thick with your coats can make your layers a bit messy, especially if you want to increase the depth of the glitters in the jelly base. The formula is also slightly on the thinner side so I recommend wiping your brush enough before going in to polish. When I painted my first coat I had a lot of patchy spots, but they disappeared like magic on the second coat so trust that the polish will do its thing right.
The polish is very deep and pretty, and compared to my photos it’s a bit more bright green-ish in person.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.
Hello, Mr Goat
Hello Mr Goat is described as a smoky grey base with holo flakes and a deep red shimmer that shifts to orange and gold.
This polish, like The Art of Bush Manipulation, definitely has a jelly base. I will note that this polish looks different on the nails versus in the bottle. In terms of formula, the formula is smooth and not too thick or thin. I recommend building the shimmer up in lighter coats, as the shift becomes more apparent after the first coat.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Got Any Updog?
Got Any Updog? is described as a beige crelly with orange to gold shifty shimmer.
Got Any Updog? had a very creamy crelly formula, and it had pretty good coverage from the start. I recommend not going too thick with your coats, and if you have some ridges with thinner coats doing a third coat (like me) will probably fix the issue.
In terms of color accuracy, the polish is less yellow-toned than in my photos.
Shown is three coat plus glossy top coat.
Let me know if you’ll be getting any of these beauties, and thanks for reading!
XOXO,
Lauren
