Hella Handmade Creations: January 2022

*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free, some with additional compensation, in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*

Hello, and welcome to my first post of 2022! We’re starting off with swatches of polishes for this month’s Hella Handmade Creations sale, which will go live from January 14-21 on the HHC site.

HHC is a monthly collaborative shop where makers contribute a product (usually polish) that follows a theme of their choosing. I have six polishes to share with you today, so let’s get into it!

BCB Lacquers: It’s Cool, I’m Fine

It’s Cool, I’m Fine is described as a dark grey base with a strong turquoise/blue shift and holo flakes. It is inspired by Hades from Hercules, and is the first in their new Disney Villains series.

It’s Cool, I’m Fine had a jelly-like formula that was even and self-leveling. The polish dried glossy.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

It’s Cool, I’m Fine will be available for $13 with a cap of 150.

Bees Knees Lacquer: The Wild Man

The Wild Man is described as an aqua based pastel multichrome that shifts to blue and purple with silver light reflective glitter. It is inspired by the mysterious figure terrorizing Bro House, and is the next polish in their American Horror Story series.

The Wild Man had a smooth and even formula. I had the slightest hint of nail line at two coats so I did three, and the polish dries with a bit of gritty texture. One coat of glossy top coat was enough to smooth it out, and the sparkling shimmer + reflective glitter combination gives an extra sparkly look.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, first with normal studio lighting and then with flash.

The Wild Man will be available for $13 with no cap.

Cuticula: Hyrule

Hyrule is described as a spring green crelly base with blue, gold, and green metallic flakes. It is inspired by Zelda, a princess of Hyrule and is the next polish in their Video Games series.

Hyrule had a smooth and even formula, with the flakes being dense and evenly dispersed.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Hyrule will be available for $13 with no cap.

Lilypad Lacquer: A Little Bit Magical

A Little Bit Magical is described as a scattered black holo with vibrant lavender/pink/fuchsia multichrome flakes. It is the next polish in their Color Therapy series.

A Little Bit Magical didn’t have that great of a formula – its flakes come out a bit chunky and the base is a bit patchy at first. Opacity builds up well for this polish in two coats, and the holo effect is strong.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

A Little Bit Magical will be available for $14 with no cap.

Nailed It: Poison Powder

Poison Powder is described as a pale cornflower blue base with a strong green to blue shifting shimmer and holo flakies. It is inspired by Bulbasaur, and is the next polish in their Pokemon series.

Poison Powder had a smooth and even formula that was self-leveling.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Poison Powder will be available for $13 with a cap of 200.

Rogue Lacquer: Fathoms Below

Fathoms Below is described as a blue holo with aqua to green shifting shimmer and holo micro flakes. It is the next polish in their The Little Mermaid series.

Fathoms Below had a smooth and even formula that was self-leveling. You can go for thinner coats and still build up to opacity in two coats.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Fathoms Below will be available for $13 with no cap.

Lots of gorgeous cool toned blue/greens this month! I hope this post was helpful, and thank you for reading!

XOXO,

Lauren
