Polish Pickup: Guilty Pleasures (May 2021)

*Disclosure: PR samples- I received these products for free in exchange for swatch photography.*

Hello hello, and welcome to my May PPU post! This month is a bit more exciting than others, because I have both PPU and IPU items to show. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

Jen & Berries: He Forced Me To Ruin My Dress

He Forced Me to Ruin My Dress is described as a white crelly with white shimmer, red metallic flakies, a mix of small black and white glitter and holographic microflakies. This polish was inspired by Clueless.

He Forced Me to Ruin My Dress had a great formula – the formula self leveled well, and I didn’t have any problems with pooling or staining. The glitters and flakes lie down flat, and this polish is honestly such a fun and pretty polish. I’m a sucker for white crellies, so this one was right up my alley.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat. I probably could have gone for two coats if I went for slightly heavier coats.

He Forced Me to Ruin My Dress will be available for $12 with a cap of 200.

Jen & Berries: The Precious Guilty Pleasures

Jen & Berries also has an IPU offering this month with a cuticle oil duo!

This cuticle oil duo consists of 2 twist up brush pens containing cuticle oil in different scents inspired by decadent desserts. Roll Out the Red Velvet has a red velvet scent that starts off with cream cheese frosting and chocolate devil’s food cake with a lingering scent of tonka beans. Dance the Lemon Merengue is reminiscent of a warm lemon meringue tart – fresh lemon with hint of sweet vanilla.

I’ve been using these cuticle oil pens for a couple weeks now, and they work super well. They’re really nourishing for my nails, and the scents on them remind me of sweets that I love (if you’re a fan of lemon-y desserts like me, you’ll really love Dance the Lemon Merengue). Super easy to use, and really portable too!

The Precious Guilty Pleasures will be available for $8 with a cap of 75.

Lucky 13 Lacquer: Treat Yo Self!

Treat Yo Self! is described as an ultra-shifty emerald green/teal/sapphire/violet multichrome with a slightly teal feel. The inspiration for this polish comes from Parks & Rec and guilt-free pleasure!

I was really stunned by this polish when I swatched it – the amount of color roll that the polish has, plus how smooth the formula worked on the nail, blew me away. This polish has no lines or streaks that remain, despite being a super multichrome-y multichrome, and the color builds up well too. The first coat I did came on relatively light, but the build up afterwards was opaque. In general, the formula leans a bit more jelly-like rather than creamy.

Shown is three coats with glossy top coat. It’s worth noting that this polish dried very glossy, and I only used a top coat for longevity purposes. I tried my best to capture as many shifts as possible, but the purple shift was probably hardest with my lighting setup. In person, the purple shift is a lot more apparent – it’s not as subtle as it looks in my photos.

Treat Yo Self! will be available for $13 with a cap of 320.

These products will go live on the Polish Pickup website at 11am ET on May 7. Will you be picking up any of these goodies this PPU? Let me know, and thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Lauren
