Hello, and happy August! It’s crazy to think that we’re already done with July, but it is exciting since August has so many amazing polish releases.
In this post I’ll be sharing the upcoming Wildflower Lacquer release – Up a Creek Vols. 4 & 5, inspired by Schitts Creek seasons 4 and 5. Two sets of six polishes will be available for preorder on the Wildflower Lacquer site starting August 9 at noon CT, and the preorder will run until August 13 at 11:59pm CT. Afterwards, limited overpours and restocks will be available.
Polishes will retail for $13 each, or $75 for each volume set (Volume 4 or Volume 5). I think that’s it for the details, so let’s get into the polishes!
Up a Creek: Volume 4
I’m Sorry I’m Not a Condom!
I’m Sorry I’m Not a Condom! is described as a coppery red to gold to green shifting shimmer base with pink to purple to gold shifting crystal flakes and scattered holo.
I’m Sorry I’m Not a Condom! was such a gorgeously shifty polish. The flakes in the polish lie flat and build up well, but I would recommend three coats unless you’re going for a look with your nail line peeking through. Since the polish is full of flakes it does dry a little bit textured, so I’d recommend using a glossy top coat.

Gossip Is the Devil’s Telephone, Best to Just Hang Up
Gossip is the Devil’s Telephone, Best to Just Hang Up is described as a brick red base with subtle red to green shifting shimmer.
Um, holy smokes, the formula on this polish was absolutely amazing. The application was so buttery smooth, and the final finish is very jewel like – I was reminded of ruby jewels in a cherry-coke kind of color. This polish’s formula though – I really cannot stress how smooth and easy to work with it was. I feel like I never understood what people said when they described a formula as “buttery smooth”, but now I feel like I understand. The polish is quite opaque and pigmented though, so I would recommend using a base coat. Some could probably get away with using just one coat.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Isn’t This a Glittering Sea of Hopeful Faces
Isn’t This a Glittering Sea of Hopeful Faces is described as a light grey base with aqua to purple to pink shifting crystal flakes, and scattered holo flakes.
Isn’t This a Glittering Sea of Hopeful Faces had a great formula. The flakes in the polish come out plentifully, and I think if I did slightly thicker coats I could have gotten away with two coats.
Shown is three coats with glossy top coat.
Please Never Say Titillating
Please Never Say Titillating is described as a light lavender leaning grey base with strong gold to green to blue shifting shimmer, and holo.
Please Never Say Titillating is another one in this collection with an absolutely amazing formula. It was smooth and light, and the shimmer in it is stunning too (although, it does shine more in the sunlight than in indoor lighting). Please Never Say Titillating could have been a one coater, and probably will be for those with shorter nails. The polish is a bit more warmer toned than what my photos show – more pinkish than cool toned.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat. Enjoy the bonus sunlight shot! The sunlight shot is a more accurate representation of the exact purple shade.
The Internet Says You’re Dead
The Internet Says You’re Dead is described as a black base with strong blue to purple to pink to gold shifting multichrome shimmer, and holo.
The Internet Says You’re Dead was very opaque on the first coat, and for a dark polish I thought that was impressive. The holo in it is strong, and the formula also isn’t too thick. This polish dries a bit flat, so I recommend using a glossy top coat.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
You’re Simply the Best
You’re Simply the Best is described as a bright pink base with strong red to gold shifting shimmer.
You’re Simply the Best was yet another stunning polish with a smooth and opaque formula. It dries decently glossy, but I recommend a top coat to make it really shine.

Up a Creek: Volume 5
I Once Played a Nurse on MASH
I Once Played a Nurse on MASH is described as a linear holo army green with subtle gold to green to blue shifting shimmer.
I Once Played a Nurse on MASH is easily a one-coater holo, but I did two coats to deepen the color. The formula is very smooth and opaque, and the holo is stunning as well. In terms of color accuracy, I’d say the polish is a bit more olive/yellow in person than in my photos. Regardless, it’s a gorgeous green holo.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
A Little Bit Alexis
A Little Bit Alexis is described as a taupe base with strong red to orange to green shifting shimmer.
A Little Bit Alexis, just like all the other polishes in this set, had a smooth and easy to work with formula. I had a little bit of nail line peeking through at two coats, but those with shorter nails will probably be fine with two coats.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.
The Crowening
The Crowening is described as a dark purple base with strong pinkish red to orange to gold to green shifting shimmer, and scattered holographic flakes.
The Crowening had an opaque yet smooth formula that wasn’t too thick or thin. I personally didn’t have any staining with this polish, but I would recommend wearing a base coat with it. The tones in this polish are a bit more red-leaning than purple-leaning like in my photos, and I would note that I didn’t do that great of a job of capturing the polish’s shiftiness.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
Are These 24 Karat?
Are These 24 Karat? is described as a light gold base with scattered holo flakes.
Are These 24 Karat? had a smooth formula, and could probably double as a topper if you wanted. I had a little bit of visible nail line after two coats, but I think with shorter nails you could be fine with two coats. This polish is such an interesting shade of gold – I don’t think I have anything quite like it in my collection.
Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.
Whisper of Desire
Whisper of Desire is described as a powder blue base with purple undertones packed with pink to purple to orange crystal flakes, red to gold to green crystal flakes, and scattered holographic flakes.
Whisper of Desire had a great formula with the flakes – they lie flat and easily come out with decent density. I would recommend building the polish up in thin coats to maximize the flakie effect.

Ew Ted! What am I? 32?
Ew Ted! What am I? 32? is described as a light blue base with linear holo and red to orange to green shifting shimmer.
Ew Ted! What am I? 32? had a really smooth and not too thick formula. It’s quite opaque, just like all the other holos in this collection. This one is one of my favorites – it looks different in every lighting, and I wanted to note that it looked lilac in bathroom/warmer lighting. All of its shades are gorgeous.
Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.
This was such a fun collection with a great mix of colors and finishes. Let me know which ones are your favorite, and which ones you’ll be picking up! As a recap, the collection will go live for preorder on the Wildflower Lacquer site from August 9 – August 13.
Thanks for reading!
XOXO,
Lauren
