Charity Box: Folklore (August 2021)

Hello! Today I’m here with three polishes that will be available for the August Charity Box collab. The theme this month is Folklore, and the Charity Box preorder will be open from August 12 at noon CT to August 21 at 10pm CT on the Charity Box website.

There’s a fun mix of finishes today, so let’s get into it!

Jen & Berries: She’s a Hot Ness

She’s a Hot Ness is described as a bronzey-silver to green to blue multichrome with holographic flakies. It is inspired by an artistic rendition of the Loch Ness Monster.

She’s a Hot Ness had an absolutely amazing formula. It was very smooth, easy to work with, and also nicely opaque. The formula is jelly-like, and with a glossy top coat there’s a very squishy shiny look to the polish. In overcast/cloudy lighting, there’s a natural gradient that you can see from the shimmer in this polish. I truly did not do the beauty of this polish justice in my photos, but know that it’s about fifty points shiftier than what you see in my photos since I wasn’t able to get the blue shift on camera.

She’s a Hot Ness is probably one of my favorite greens – it’s that good.

Lilypad Lacquer: Dance of the Brolga

Dance of the Brolga is described as a chocolate jelly base with orange/red/gold iridescent flakes. It is inspired by the Australian Brolga Bird.

Dance of the Brolga gets opaque really fast on the second coat. Its flakes are a bit on the sparse side, but it does layer well with decent density. The formula is definitely a jelly, which gives a squishy look.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Nailed It: Kitsune

Kitsune is described as a delicate blue base with a strong copper to green shifting shimmer, a touch of copper/gold crystal flakies, holo flakies, and a subtle holo effect. It is inspired by its namesake, Kitsune.

Kitsune had a very smooth formula – it practically glides onto the nail. The formula is on the slightly thinner side, but I didn’t have any issues with running or pooling, and the polish is also quite opaque. The flakes are scattered throughout and give a subtle glow boost to the polish’s look. Kitsune was another standout for me – I’ve already worn it another time outside of swatching it. The shimmer paired with this base color is so pretty and flattering.
