Hella Handmade Creations: February 2022

*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*

Hello! In this post I’ll be sharing eight polishes available for this month’s Hella Handmade Creations. HHC is a monthly collaborative shop where makers contribute a product (usually polish) that follows a theme of their choosing. The sale will go live on the HHC site from February 14-21.

Let’s get into it!

BCB Lacquers: Poor Unfortunate Souls

Poor Unfortunate Souls is described as a violet polish with a pink shifting shimmer and red, purple and turquoise flakies. It is inspired by Ursula, and is the next in their Disney Villains series.

Poor Unfortunate Souls had a slightly thicker formula, with its flakes coming out densely and evenly. Two coats was fine for opacity, but I did three to get a deeper base color.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat and matte top coat.

Poor Unfortunate Souls will be available for $13 with a cap of 150.

Bees Knees Lacquer: A Little Magic Couldn’t Hurt

A Little Magic Couldn’t Hurt is described as a soft sea foam with gold to green shimmer. It is the next polish in their American Horror Story series.

A Little Magic Couldn’t Hurt had a smooth and even formula that self-leveled well.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.

A Little Magic Couldn’t Hurt will be available for $13 with no cap.

Cupcake Polish: Wanda

Wanda is described as a bright scarlet red linear holographic nail polish. It inspired by its namesake, Wanda, and is the first in their new WandaVision series.

Wanda had a super smooth, opaque, and self-leveling formula. It was a one-coater, but I did two coats for a more plump look. Because of how opaque it is, I would be wary of staining.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Wanda will be available for $13 with no cap.

Cuticula: Get This Party Started

Get This Party Started is described as a berry base full of rainbow iridescent shifting flakes, red metallic flakes, and scattered silver holographic flakes. It is the next in their Video Games series.

Get This Party Started had a smooth and even formula, with its flakes lying flat and dense.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Get This Party Started will be available for $13 with no cap.

Kathleen & Co: LightSpeed

LightSpeed is described as a blackish blue base with purple/blue flakes and a mix of reflective glitters. It is inspired by the Start Wars Hyperspace, and is the first in their A Galaxy Far, Far Away series.

LightSpeed had pretty even formula. The polish dries flat and gritty due to the reflective glitters. This was a polish where the reflective glitters were more prominent in non-flash lighting.

Shown is three coats plus a glitter grabbing top coat, followed by glossy top coat in normal studio lighting and with flash.

LightSpeed will be available for $13 with a cap of 175.

Lilypad Lacquer: Life of Luxury

Life of Luxury is described as a bright purple crelly with blue shimmer and pink iridescent flakies. It is the next in their Color Therapy Series.

Life of Luxury had a smooth and creamy formula. Its flakes were not that dense, and the purple is a bit more warm toned in person.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Life of Luxury will be available for $14 with a cap of 30.

Nailed It: Hangry

Hangry is described as a deep violet base packed with red/gold UCC flakies. It is inspired by Morpeko and is the next in their Pokemon series.

Hangry had a smooth and even formula. Its flakes are dense and flat but do clump a teeny bit, so I did a little manipulation to smooth them out.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Hangry will be available for $13 with a cap of 200.

Rogue Lacquer: The Human World, It’s A Mess

The Human World, It’s A Mess is described as a red jelly with scattered holo and micro holo red bar glitter. It is the next in their The Little Mermaid Series, and is inspired by Sebastian.

The Human World, It’s A Mess had a super opaque, slightly thicker formula. It dries flat, and I do recommend pairing it with a glitter smoothing top coat.

Shown is two coats plus two coats of glossy top coat.

The Human World, It’s A Mess will be available for $12 with no cap.

There’s a good variety of polishes this month! Let me know which ones you’ll be picking up, and thanks for reading.

XOXO,

Lauren
