Polish Pickup: Warm and Cozy (December 2021)

*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free, some with additional compensation, in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*

Hello! It’s that time of the month where Polish Pickup is right around the corner, and this month I have 12 polishes and 2 IPU items to share with you. Polish Pickup is a monthly collaborative shop that opens on the first weekend, so this month it’s December 3- 6, on the PPU site for indie makers to offer items (usually polish) under a certain themes. Orders are done in a preorder style, so your order will not be shipped until 3-4 weeks after the preorder window closes.

I’m really loving the color palette of my collage this month. There’s quite a few gorgeous polishes to share, so let’s get into it!

BCB Lacquers: Sunset Bonfire

Sunset Bonfire is described as a cobalt blue polish with a strong pink/green/gold shifting shimmer and holo. It is inspired by bonfires on the beach at sunset.

Sunset Bonfire was quite opaque on the first coat, and the formula was smooth and jelly-like. The polish is self-leveling, and the shifts are gorgeous in person.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Sunset Bonfire will be available for $13 with a cap of 300.

BCB Lacquers: Black Cherry Merlot Cuticle Oil

BCB Lacquers is also bringing us a roller ball cuticle oil in the Black Cherry Merlot scent, inspired by the warm & cozy smell and taste of a Black Cherry Merlot wine. I’m in love with this scent and how easy it is to use this oil – highly recommend!

This will be available for $10 with a cap of 75, and contains 10mL of scented cuticle oil.

Bees Knees Lacquer: Solstice Gift

Solstice Gift is described as a pale lavender pastel multichrome with silver metallic flakes. It is inspired by A Court of Frost and Starlight.

For Solstice Gift, I recommend going for thinner coats with the formula. It is jelly-like with flat flakes, and the flakes are dense in the polish.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.

Solstice Gift will be available for $13 with no cap.

Cupcake Polish: Sweet Slumber

Sweet Slumber is described as a grey crème nail polish filled with pink and silver metallic flakies. It is inspired by a cozy pink and silver bedroom.

Sweet Slumber had a smooth formula, with its flakes coming out flat and dense.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Sweet Slumber will be available for $13 with no cap.

Cuticula: Unwind

Unwind is described as a cool toned lavender crelly base full of rose gold flakes. It is inspired by the calming effects of Lavender.

Unwind had a jelly-like, slightly sheerer base. The formula was still smooth and its flakes are evenly dense.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Unwind will be available for $13 with no cap.

Different Dimension: Cold Hands, Warm Heart

Cold Hands, Warm Heart is described as a dove grey crelly based polish with pink to gold to green color shifting aurora shimmers and holographic microflakies. It is inspired by cozy blankets.

Cold Hands, Warm Heart had a smooth and self-leveling formula that leans a bit on the thicker side. The polish and formula are very easy to work with.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Cold Hands, Warm Heart will be available for $13 with no cap.

Dreamland Lacquer: My Favorite Yarn

My Favorite Yarn is described as a wisteria purple/periwinkle when warm that shifts to a nice bright lavender when cold with flakes that shift from gold to pink to green. It is inspired by the maker’s current favorite yarn – Hobbii Colorina in the colorway Pastel Sky.

My Favorite Yarn had a smooth formula, and its thermal properties are very reactive. It dries flat like most other thermals.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

My Favorite Yarn will be available for $12 with a cap of 350.

Glisten & Glow: Hygge Life

Hygge Life is described as an ivory with pink under tones polish loaded with rainbow iridescent flakes. It is inspired by the Danish word of Hygee and the life that it represents.

Hygge Life had a thicker formula, and its flakes appear very delicate against base. I recommend using thinner coats to build this polish up to opacity.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.

Hygge Life will be available for $13 with no cap.

Glisten & Glow: Top Coat

Glisten & Glow is also offering their award winning fast drying glossy top coat during this month’s PPU! It’s one of my favorite top coats as well, and if you haven’t tried it or are looking to get some more, I highly recommend it.

Glisten & Glow’s top coat will be available for $7.50 with no cap.

Jen & Berries: Lifestyle Blogger’s Latte

Lifestyle Blogger’s Latte is described as a taupey-brown crelly with gunmetal & taupe microflakies and holographic flakes. It is inspired by a perfectly composed photo of a lifestyle blogger’s latte.

Lifestyle Blogger’s Latte had a smooth formula, with the holo flakes distributing evenly. The polish is a bit more warm-toned than in my photos, at least on me.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Lifestyle Blogger’s Latte will be available for $12.50 with a cap of 200.

Kathleen & Co: Hygge Lights

Hygge Lights is described as a beautiful pale lilac base with gold shifting shimmer and reflective pigment. When the light hits it just right the polish flashes purple. It is inspired by soft cozy lighting.

Hygge Lights applies like a microglitter polish, and while at first the base isn’t that opaque it builds well in three coats. The formula is smooth overall, and the reflective glitter is so so stunning. I can’t recommend this polish enough.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat, under regular swatch lighting and with flash.

Hygge Lights will be available for $13 with no cap.

Lilypad Lacquer: Cute and Cosy

Cute and Cosy is described as a scattered grey holo base with purple to fuchsia to gold to pink to green to orange multichrome flakes. It is inspired by a tea cosy.

Cute and Cosy had a smooth and even formula. The flakes are flat and medium-dense.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Cute and Cosy will be available for $14 with no cap.

Nailed It: Mallow-Dramatic

Mallow-Dramatic is described as a subtle pink base with lilac undertones, packed with gold/green crystal flakies, and a touch of holo flakies. It is inspired by pink marshmallow hot chocolate.

Mallow-Dramatic was very packed with flakes that lie flat, and its formula was also slightly thicker due to all of the flakes.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Mallow-Dramatic will be available for $13 with a cap of 300.

Rogue Lacquer: Comfy and Snowy

Comfy and Snow is described as a pale lavender holo with intense red/gold shimmer with micro holo flakes. It is inspired by a self winter scene.

Comfy and Snowy had a very smooth and self-leveling formula, typical of Rogue Lacquer shimmers. I adored this color, and thought it was very flattering.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Comfy and Snowy will be available for $13 with a cap of 500.

So so many gorgeous polishes to choose from this month. I hope you pick some of these beauties up! Thanks for reading.

XOXO,

Lauren
