Bees Knees Lacquer: From Blood and Ash 2 Collection

*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free with additional compensation in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*

Hello everyone! Today I’ll be sharing swatches of the August Bees Knees Lacquer launch, which features an 8 piece collection inspired by the From Blood and Ash collection. If you’re interested in seeing swatches of part 1 of this collection, which released last month, check out my blog review here.

This collection features 7 gorgeous shimmers and one stunning holo, and the preorder for it goes live on August 27 at noon EDT until September 3 at midnight PDT. Polishes will be available on the Bees Knees Lacquer site.

That’s it for the details, so let’s get into the swatches!

Bad Influence

Bad Influence is described as a baby pink pastel multichrome that shifts from deep raspberry to orange to green.

There are three very light pastel shimmer multichromes in this set, and of the three Bad Influence was the most opaque. It was well opaque in two coats for me (perhaps because it matched the tones of my blurring base coat), although I did go for three coats to see if it would make any difference (it didn’t, for me). The glow on this polish is absolutely insane, especially in indirect lighting. Bad Influence was one of my top picks from this set.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat over a blurring base coat. The top coat I used in all of my swatches here is the Bees Knees Lacquer Fast, I’m Very Fast quick dry top coat.

Bad Influence will retail for $13.

Soul Eater

Soul Eater is described as a sky blue pastel multichrome that shifts from cobalt to purple to pink.

Next in the pastel multichrome line is Soul Eater. Soul Eater had a very smooth formula, and again was an insanely shifty polish. I think this polish would also look stunning over a light blue or black base.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat over a blurring base coat.

Soul Eater will retail for $13.

I Have So Many Questions

I Have So Many Questions is described as an aqua pastel multichrome that shifts from emerald green to blue to purple.

I Have So Many Questions had quite the sheer formula, but it was easy to work with and smooth to apply. Again, we have another amazingly shifty polish, but for this one in particular I recommend being careful about the blurring base that you choose to use (should you choose to use one). I think my blurring base coat made the tone of the polish yellow/warmer than it was supposed to be.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat over a blurring base coat.

I Have So Many Questions will retail for $13.

To Take Back What Is Mine

To Take Back What Is Mine is described as the cornflower blue sister to Doomicorn with the same bright green to aqua shimmer.

To Take Back What Is Mine was absolutely stunning, and the formula for it was great too. I had a slightly sheer first two coats, but had good color buildup at the third coat. There is the slightest bit of nail line visible in my swatch photos, but it was negligible in person. Brush strokes for this polish disappear once dry.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.

To Take Back What Is Mine will retail for $12.

Blood of the Gods

Blood of the Gods is described as the pink sister to Doomicorn with the same bright green to aqua shimmer.

Like all the others in this set, Blood of the Gods had a super smooth formula with shimmer that absolutely glows. The tone of this polish leans somewhat neutral-like on my skin tone. I still had some nail line on the nails without a blurring base coat, but my nail line wasn’t really visible outside of harsh light.

Shown is three coats on its own on the index and middle finger, two coats over a blurring base on the ring and pinky finger, followed by a glossy top coat over all.

Blood of the Gods will retail for $12.

Uncomfortably Curious

Uncomfortably Curious is described as a bright coral with glowy green shimmer and microflakes.

Uncomfortably Curious had yet again a smooth and easy to work with formula. The shimmer in it is quite opaque, so I feel like those with shorter nails or lighter nail lines could get away with just two coats.

Compared to Blood of the Gods, Uncomfortably Curious leans more orange-y, and the shimmer doesn’t take on blue/purple tones like Blood of the Gods does.

Shown is three coats plus glossy top coat.

Uncomfortably Curious will retail for $13.

Lamaea

Lamaea is described as a rich violet base with a jewel-toned shimmer that shifts from green to blue to purple.

Lamaea was insanely stunning. It was quite opaque on the first coat, and the “jewel-toned” description is definitely accurate. The formula is smooth and self-leveling, and the glow is so much more vibrant in person. Pictures don’t do this polish and its gorgeous tones justice. I would recommend using a base coat with this polish since it is quite saturated and opaque.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Lamaea will retail for $12.

Elementals

Elementals is described as a dark honey colored linear holo.

Based on this one polish alone, I can tell that Bees Knees Lacquer has stunning holo formulas. Elementals was super opaque, practically a one coater, but I do recommend two coats to deepen the color and the holo depth. The formula for this polish runs a bit on the lighter side, but not to the point where there is any running or pooling.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Elementals will retail for $13.

Will you be picking any of these beauties up? Let me know, and thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Lauren
