Glisten & Glow: Autumn by the Sea Collection

*Disclosure: Press samples – I received these polishes for free in exchange for swatch photography. All reviews and opinions are my own.*

Hello hello! Today I have a new creme collection to share with you, and I’m super excited to share this collection because I rarely get to review cremes. While I’m not a huge creme person myself (I tend to prefer shimmers), I do love cremes when doing nail art and making designs.

I’m starting to get sidetracked, so let’s get into the collection details. The Autumn by the Sea by Glisten & Glow is a limited edition 5 piece creme collection that will launch on August 27 at 7pm ET on the Glisten & Glow site. Only one batch of these polishes have been made and they won’t be restocked, so get them while you can! Polishes will retail for $10 individually, or $46 for the whole set.

I swear, Jill, the mastermind behind Glisten & Glow, pulled this color palette out of my dreams or something because I loved every single color. The color story and general dusty-esque scheme for this set is so lovely and sophisticated together.

I have swatches and a couple of nail art looks to share with this set, so let’s get into it!

Crashing Waves

Crashing Waves is described as a medium oceanic teal creme polish.

Across the board, all of the polishes in this collection had a smooth and easy to work with formula. Comparatively, Crashing Waves had a more creamy (as opposed to jelly-like) formula that was pretty opaque in one coat. I did two coats for a squishier look, but with a slightly thicker coat you can probably get away with just one coat.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat. The glossy top coat I used in all of my swatch photos is Glisten & Glow’s quick dry top coat.

Crisp Salt Air

Crisp Salt Air is described as a medium mulberry creme polish.

If Crashing Waves had a creamy formula, Crisp Salt Air had a more jelly-leaning creme formula. It was comparatively less opaque on its first coat, but two coats gave great opacity. This polish dried a bit on the flat side.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Deserted Beaches

Deserted Beaches is described as a sandy taupe creme polish.

Deserted Beaches was another one with a more jelly-leaning creme formula, and again I did two coats despite having pretty good opacity on the first coat for increased squishiness in the final look. This polish dries glossy, and I thought it was a really nice, slightly muted nude that looks flattering on my skin tone. You’ll probably see me featuring this polish a lot in future nail art looks.

Serene Sunsets

Serene Sunsets is described as a vibrant Persian red creme polish.

Serene Sunsets had yet again a super smooth formula that’s quite good after one coat. Again, I did two coats for squishiness, and it’s worth noting that my swatch photos leaned a bit more orange-y than the more berry-leaning tone the polish has in person.

Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

Starry Skies

Starry Skies is described as a dusty royal blue creme polish.

Starry Skies, like all the others, could easily be a one coater, which I thought was impressive for such a dark polish. I did two thin coats, and this polish leans a bit more on the jelly-like creme formula.

Nail Art

Now for some nail art looks! First up is a drag marble look featuring Deserted Beaches, Crashing Waves, Starry Skies, and a sparkling dark navy that I can’t share details about yet (I will say, it’s a Glisten & Glow polish that’s getting released later in the fall, so you’ll be seeing it on my blog soon!). This trio of colors looks so pretty together, and I’m pretty happy with the result.

My second look is an abstract wavy tips look – the kind that’s been trending in the nail art world all summer – featuring Crisp Salt Air and Serene Sunsets. The cremes in this set were really easy to work with for nail art – they don’t dry too too fast so you can still work with them for a bit, but they’re also very self leveling and opaque so you don’t have to go back like three times to build up opacity in your looks.

I personally really liked this combo and look💕

Will you be picking any of these up? Let me know, and thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Lauren
